Yesterday, Hannah turned one year old!

We had a pretty good day overall. The morning started out by me walking into Hannah's room singing Happy Birthday. She looked at me like I was crazy. Then, we went to Hannah's appointment with the gastroenterologist Dr for her on-going constipation problems.

The appt went really well. Hannah has obviously developed an early fear of the Dr. She started screaming as soon as the nurse went to weigh her. The Dr barely even looked at her bottom---didn't even touch it really--and she had tears streaming down her face. Aside from that, the appt wasn't traumatic. The Dr was really nice and explained things well. He said that basically some people's systems are more sensative to changes in their diet and their intestines absorb too much water out of the bowels making them hard & difficult to pass. Fiber will be a life-long need for Hannah. We've already increased the amount of fiber in her diet. She's been on a medicine called Lactolose for a couple months now--1ml 2x day. The Dr upped the amount to 2tsp 2x day! He said it's a type of sugar that our body can't digest at all so it pushes it's way through the digestive system. He said in about a month that we should start seeing softer poops. And we'll need several months of soft poops for Hannah to forget about the pain involved with going. Right now, she anticipates the pain and holds it in for as long as she can. So that's the plan. We'll go back in 2 months for a check-up. Hopefully, this will really get Hannah going properly and she won't have so much pain when she goes.

After that, Hannah slept in the car for an hour...I drove around so I didn't have to wake her up. We went to lunch with her Nana. We could hear the place's phone ringing. And every time it did, Hannah would put her hand on her ear like she was talking on the phone. A man walked by talking on a cell phone and she would would pretend she was talking too. It was too cute. I guess she sees me on the phone all the time for work. :)

She took an afternoon nap. Then her uncles, Nate & Jay, came over. Nate gave her the coolest gift. It's toy keys but they're really metal and have safe edges. Also it has a "clicker" that makes car noises and has a light. Hannah LOVED it! She would just laugh every time she made the noises. She's so proud to have her own "real" keys.

She took another nap (that appt must have wore her out!). And woke up in time for dinner. We had her open the gifts from us and then at 6:59 we sang Happy Birthday. I made her a small cake for her to have fun with.

She wanting NOTHING to do with the cake!! She tried flipping the cake off her tray, picking the icing off and flicking it at Eric's mom, and ending up crying when we tried to get her to taste it. We were all laughing which made her cry more. After a couple minutes, we gave up and put her in the bath and shortly after that, in bed.

Check out the rest of the pictures! The birthday pictures are in the One Year Old album.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANNAH!!
