Since my last update, God implanted the call to teaching English in middle or high school deep in my heart. When another good opportunity presented itself, I wrestled with this call asking God to confirm it. He lovingly reminded me of the time in college when He revealed my place in the Kingdom: "Teenagers are your mission field."
My time at AIM matured me in Christ, teaching me to closely listen and follow as He leads. The work I've done at AIM has impacted many, many teenagers although fairly indirectly. Now, I know God is sending me out to be a light in the dark halls of school.
This Saturday at 8:30am, I will take the English 6-12 Subject Area Exam. I must pass this exam in order to be eligible for a temporary teacher certification. The application process is long and complicated, both for certification and for employment. The mountain of red tape ahead of me seems overwhelming. Please join with me in praying for God to prepare the way for me.
I wrote the devotional on God's Power (posted below) asย I was waiting in the Orange County Public School Board Office. I needed to fill out a questionnaire before I could officially apply for a particular position. The gentleman responsible for the questionnaire was at lunch. So I waited for an hour only to be told that they were having a glitch in the system and couldn't send me the questionnaire. The next day, the questionnaire arrives in my inbox. Excitedly, I open it and realized I can't submit it until I receive my letter of eligibility from the state department of education! It feels impossible for all this to take place in less than 1 month. Fortunately, I know that God is more than able to accomplish all that we ask.
Thank you for your prayers and support on this journey! I will happily update you on this situation as God answers our prayers.
For the Kingdom,
Vicki
